Michelle is thrilled to be back in the room rehearsing a production of José Cruz González’s beautiful play with music, AMERICAN MARIACHI, with a breathtakingly talented cast and creative team. This happens to be a show that Michelle’s been chasing for a few years, so the opportunity to make a return to the stage in a bucket list show is a dream come true. Michelle will play the role of Soyla Reyna, the Columbian salon owner who charms her way into an all-female mariachi band and fakes it till she makes it!

Directed by the inimitable Rebecca Rivas, TheatreSquared’s production of AMERICAN MARIACHI runs August 4th-29th. The production will also be available to stream beginning August 13th and continuing through the duration of the run! Snag tickets here: https://www.theatre2.org/american-mariachi

The South Side of Chicago carries daily danger, and the smallest and simplest of decisions can have life or death consequences for the residents. Life continues as the kids prep for school and their parents shuffle off to work. The young adults of the area are trying to scrape a living for themselves, while the elders sit on their front porches and observe the goings on. The South Side has the potential to crush dreams, and this coming-of-age series focuses on Kevin, a preteen who embraces the normal rites of childhood, Brandon, who makes a leap of faith to succeed in love and life with Jerrika, Emmett, who seeks guidance from his mother, and Ronnie, who is a drifter struggling to be loved. All of them are linked together by sheer coincidence as they seek redemption.
